Last Friday night saw the club hold our annual end of season awards night and disco at the EBM Centre in Peacehaven.

The evening gives Club Chairman Martin Garry the chance to thank all of the volunteers and coaches who contribute throughout the season, congratulate the teams who have achieved their goals and reward those who have gone above and beyond with three special awards.

The first of the three awards is the Docker of the Year, which was given to Lee Robinson. The award is presented to a club officer or member who has made a significant impact through their actions and have gone over and above expectations required in their role.

Next up was the Chairman’s Award, which this year went to Clive Blunt and Ryan Walton. The two were picked by Martin for their outstanding achievement and commitment to the club after taking over as First Team Managers in January and guiding the team to a nine-match winning run. They also combined these roles with other jobs at the club.

The final of the three main awards was the Towner Award. This was presented to the club five years ago by the great grandson of the Towner family, as they wanted future generations to remember who they were as it was them who set the club up in 1887. The award is for an individual or group who have made an outstanding contribution to the club or community during the last season.

This year the winners were Kate and Chris White, for their hard work and dedication in first getting funding for the new kitchen, and then the fitting and installation of the wonderful facilities we now have.

The evening also gave everyone at the club chance to pay their thanks and appreciation to the Chairman, who is approaching his tenth year at the helm. Club members pitched together to present Martin with a number of gifts and a tribute video to say thank you for his ongoing incredible work at the club.
