Newhaven’s hopes of an RUR Charity Cup final were dashed on Tuesday evening as they were heavily beaten at the semi-final stage on a sobering night in Eastbourne.
With the Dockers lingering in mid-table in the SCFL Premier Division, this was their last chance to achieve some success this season.
But the hosts had other ideas and they were 2-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Charlie Ball and Jack Samways.
Sam Scott and Sonny Walsh scored twice in as many minutes late in the second half to compound the Dockers’ misery as they now look to finish as high as possible in the league.
